[9:52] <Aminur> Hello, Good morning everybody.
[9:55] <selva> aminur, very gud morn
[9:57] <manish84> wat i suggest is download the latest version openbravo 2.5, then change the openbravo.properties and built it using ant intall.source
[9:57] <manish84> good morning
[10:01] <Aminur> I have a simple enquiry-- I have added a docAction field in my module which is a Button with no process, But after succeful compilation when I clickbutton it says You have not permission to access this page
[10:02] <Aminur> Is it not possible to use this docAction button?
[10:07] <Amar> i have done some customization and developemnt in existing openbravo,i dont to lose all the things
[10:08] <Amar> after iinstalingl openbravo 2.5,the data will be ther....or not...?
[10:12] <manish84> watever changes u have made is it reflecting in the application

[10:38] <Aminur> We have investigated that is needed to connect a sql procedure to a DocAction Button. Is this mandatory
[10:39] <Aminur> ??
[10:40] <Aminur> or we can also add a java process to a DocAction Button instead to a procedure?

[11:26] <asier_> using ?
[11:38] * asier_ is now known as azabaleta
[11:40] <Amar> i m using 2.40
[11:40] <azabaleta> then you will have to redo everything
[11:40] <azabaleta> its easier
[11:40] <azabaleta> as you can copy the table creation scripts from database
[11:41] <Amar> then...........
[11:41] <azabaleta> then create manually everything in Application dictionary
[11:41] <Amar> i have to repeat all the process what i have done before
[11:42] <azabaleta> in 2.40 yes
[11:42] <azabaleta> 2.50 has modularity. You can do a module with tabs and windows, and then just add that module in another fresh installation

[12:24] <khurram> any POS developer here?
[12:28] <katratxo> khurram: nope
[12:28] <khurram> ah
[12:28] <khurram> what a POS community
[12:28] <khurram> no one replies at forums
[12:28] <khurram> and no one is available at irc
[12:29] <katratxo> really? afaik the pos community is more forum oriented
[12:29] <khurram> may be. but I didnt get any reply there
[12:30] <khurram> I think i will have to do everything myself
[12:31] <khurram> I have never seen an open source project with such a community
[12:31] <khurram> if u go to forum, u dont get any help, if u come to irc, people r not willing to help
[12:33] <DMA02> welp, nothing is free (as in free beer)
[12:34] <khurram> depends. i have been working with shlomy for 4 months on jsgantt
[12:35] <khurram> let alone the community, he would personally try his best to help everyone and that way, not only i was able to use his product in my project, i was able to contribute in developing some features as well
[12:36] <DMA02> yup, some opensource projects are great. I like all the apache projects
[12:36] <DMA02> I personally think the POS community helps more than the pos developers themselves concerning openbravo
[12:36] <khurram> i heard that some of my friends tried to work on OpenBravo POS but they gave up
[12:36] <DMA02> the ERP part seems more useful
[12:37] <khurram> coz they didnt find any help. one of them told me about something like QBook POS yesterday that he started using that one coz its better
[12:37] <DMA02> adempiere seems more helpful with support but their software lacks what obpos has
[12:37] <DMA02> well I wouldn't doubt it
[12:37] <DMA02> the pos source code is close to un-maintainable by people other than the person who wrote it
[12:38] <DMA02> I took my jab at reverse engineering some documentation out of it
[12:38] <khurram> but this OB POS is the choice of my client
[12:38] <DMA02> too much time
[12:38] <khurram> but i was not looking for some rocket science. i asked some simple questions at forum and no one could reply even those
[12:39] <khurram> like i just want to make a simple form. i just asked if there is any API available to manipulate database and resuse OB components rather than manually creatring connection and use Statement, Resultset etc
[12:39] <khurram> coz i got an idea from the source code that they have given some kind of API to use
[12:39] <DMA02> you need to understand that no one is 100% obligated to answer any of your questions
[12:40] <DMA02> this is the nature of these projects
[12:40] <khurram> its not about obligation. opensource community means that u r there to help others
[12:40] <DMA02> says who ?
[12:40] <khurram> well i developed a project in JMF 4 years ago
[12:40] <DMA02> ok.. so basically the answer was "says me"
[12:40] <DMA02> i'm trying to tell you that not all communities are the same
[12:40] <khurram> people still mail me to get help and i think i am obligated to help them as i need help of others at times
[12:41] <DMA02> soem are helpful some are not
[12:41] <khurram> yes i agree
[12:41] <DMA02> I have my own project as well on SF
[12:41] <khurram> but its not good
[12:41] <khurram> thats great
[12:41] <DMA02> and I help a lot and write documentation
[12:41] <DMA02> people email me from countries asking to help develop
[12:41] <khurram> its nice if u help
[12:42] <DMA02> but with openbravo.. I feel like I can't help this project.. there is no docs ... nothing usefull.. anything I find I will keep to my self
[12:42] <DMA02> if the devs don't open up.. I won't
[12:42] <DMA02> and it is sad .. yes.. but this is how it goes.. not all communities are like this..
[12:42] <DMA02> but I feel this community helps when they can
[12:42] <DMA02> but a lot of the knowledge is stuck at the devs side
[12:42] <khurram> may b. but i didn't get any help yet
[12:43] <DMA02> you can wait... or spend days trying to figure it out
[12:43] <DMA02> I will post something to help
[12:43] <khurram> well i will try to do my best, rather i have to do my best, its my job :D and would love to share my knowledge
[12:43] <khurram> well i dont have much time
[12:43] <khurram> i have to complete a form and a report by the end of next month
[12:43] <khurram> i will be spending this weekend at home to explore its code
[12:44] <DMA02> http://forge.openbravo.com/plugins/espforum/view.php?group_id=101&forumid=870682&topicid=5338874
[12:44] <khurram> if i cant find anything, i will do my job simply by creating connection and manually inserting/updating/edting database
[12:44] <DMA02> from what I can tell... OBP has some extra layer for communicating with the DB
[12:45] <DMA02> you gotta understand how it works
[12:45] * Amar (n=Amar@122.167.19.112) has joined #openbravo
[12:45] <khurram> yes i have that idea but needed help about that. u know my job wont be that tough if i had got some help to start
[12:45] <DMA02> I gave up on that cos it was too complex and I figured.. by the time I actually understand obp and become able to develop on it.. I would have already written my own by then
[12:45] <khurram> just a simple form and a simple report

[12:46] <khurram> because i never expect it to be easy

[12:47] <khurram> nice talking to u
[12:47] <DMA02> thnx you look like one too
[12:47] <DMA02> like you enjoy a helpful community
[12:47] <khurram> well actually i m not that much :P
[12:47] <DMA02> well in that case.. you deserve what you get lol
[12:47] <khurram> lol
[12:48] <khurram> i could have done my job a long ago without any worries by adopting the method that is easier to me
[12:48] <khurram> but client wants my work to be contributed to the opensource community so i want to do in a best way
[12:49] <DMA02> I wish the people who wrote the POS felt the same way
[12:50] <khurram> well i believe that its not people who help u, rather its God who shows u ways
[12:50] <khurram> so i always ask God for help and usually i get it
[12:50] <DMA02> ok, when god gives you a report and forms for pos.. let me know
[12:51] <khurram> but god helps when u try ur best
[12:51] <khurram> ok i will let u know
[12:51] <khurram> :)
[12:51] <DMA02> ok, if it works for you.. good
[12:51] <khurram> r u the same guy sitting here all the time or different people using the same nick?
[12:52] <DMA02> same guy

[12:54] <khurram> where r u from?
[12:55] <DMA02> Lebanon
[12:55] <khurram> i c
[12:55] <khurram> i am from Pakistan
[12:57] <khurram> working at www.zeropoint.it
[12:57] <khurram> r u doing job somewhere>?
[12:57] <DMA02> yeah how's it over there ? you in any of the hot spots
[12:58] <khurram> well no hot spots. its all propaganda
[12:58] <DMA02> yeah I got a job.. write software for multi-national corp.
[12:58] <khurram> cool
[12:58] <DMA02> this pos thing is something I wanted to do on the side to help my aunt in her bookstore
[12:58] <khurram> ahan
[12:59] <khurram> ok then pray for me. may be i can help her :)
[12:59] <khurram> if i can understand it well
[12:59] <DMA02> well for a small tiny business opb is ok
[12:59] <khurram> true
[12:59] <DMA02> but for anything larger.. I wouldn't use it
[12:59] <khurram> i also realized that looking at its features
[13:00] <DMA02> I was thinknig.. you can't use it in a supermarket even
[13:00] <DMA02> I saw some commercial POS
[13:00] <DMA02> they have much more things
[13:00] <khurram> my friend told me the same yesterday that he was looking for some POS software for his client but ob was so limited
[13:00] <DMA02> and also fast-food restaurants.. they want caller-id int he software
[13:00] <DMA02> many many things
[13:01] <khurram> mostly clients like to have POS solutions developed for their specific requirements
[13:01] <DMA02> yeah
[13:01] <DMA02> also.. another thing
[13:01] <DMA02> if you couple ERP with the POS
[13:01] <khurram> well i got my tea. i will be back in 10 minutes. going out to smoke
[13:01] <DMA02> put an ERP in (lets say) every supermarket branch in the country
[13:01] <DMA02> how you gonna synchronize the ERPs in thebranches to the main ERP in the HQ ?
[13:02] <DMA02> smoking will kill you
[13:05] <huehner> DMA02: use one erp with differet clients inside per branch. then you can get the overall view (nearly) for free
[13:06] <DMA02> you mean you can sync many ERPs with 1 master ERP ?
[13:06] * cyberjorge (n=chatzill@116.50.175.23) Quit ("ChatZilla 0.9.84 [Firefox 3.0.4/2008102920]")
[13:10] <DMA02> ok, I'll just take that as a no.
[13:12] <huehner> DMA02: just a single ERP for all so only the master (and then different clients entities for each branch)
[13:12] <huehner> DMA02: then you do not need a sync at all on the erp level
[13:12] <DMA02> ah ok.
[13:12] <DMA02> so the ERPs in the branches are the "clients"
[13:12] <huehner> in openbravo erp yes
[13:13] <huehner> where you can choose to share data among clients or have them indepent (or mixed)

[20:01] <rmolne> yesterday i was trying to resolve an issue in the withholding window, when u try to save an error occurs because of a expected field, but the field doesn't appear, i look for this field in the window, change the displayed check and then when i compile the window the building fails and i can't see it (the window) anymore. Well, today talking with azabaleta i know that it's a bug, but if i set any payment term as default it works correctly, but
[20:01] <rmolne> now i can't compile the window again 'cos the buiding still fails, i return all to this initial configuration, but the field c_paymentterm_id seems to be in my template module, and i can't change it. someone can help me please. thank u
